Maurice Frey, he works alone with no connection to a particular school. Before dedicating himself to painting alone, he was an actor, jewellery designer, theatre set and furniture designer. His artistic development has flourished through this eclecticism. His inspiration is provided by what is described as 'sensibility', an interior multi-faceted force which is realised on his canvases by several preferred images: the interior of a room with single human figures, inhabitants of the space and manipulators of objects; contrasts between exteriors and interiors, the world through a window, images of confrontation with the world. (Maurice Frey was born at Saint-Martin, Holland; he then spent many years in France and Italy. Since 1997 he has lived and worked at Chaux-de-Fonds in Switzerland.
